Q. What is engineered stone?
A. Engineered stone is made from 90–95% crushed quartz in a resin polymer slab. As a manmade stone, it’s more affordable, non-porous, highly resistant to scratches, stains and acids and oils.
Q. Do I need to seal natural marble?
A. Yes, sealing natural stone is paramount to maintaining the integrity of the stone. The sealant won’t change the look or feel of the stone but will help repel oil, water and liquid stains. Please keep in mind that marble is a naturally soft, porous stone and can absorb stains quickly. If you spill red wine, coffee or acidic liquids including lemon juice or coke, clean it up immediately to prevent damage.
Q. How do I clean natural marble?
A. Stay away from all your supermarket cleaning products as bleach, ammonia and hydrogen peroxide contain extremely harsh chemicals that will damage the stone. Mild detergents and stone soap is best to clean natural marble.
Q. Do I need to seal engineered stone?
A. No, one of the main advantages of installing engineered stone is that it’s non-porous and doesn’t require sealing.
Q. How do I clean engineered stone?
A. Engineered stone requires little maintenance and can be cleaned with a mild detergent.
Q. Is there a big price difference in natural stone and engineered stone?
A. Engineered stone is more affordable to buy, install and maintain than natural stone. However, the unique character and beauty that comes with natural stone is unbeatable.
Q. Can I place hot pots and pans on my stone top?
A. No, unfortunately both natural and engineered stone are vulnerable to thermal shock. We always recommend placing hot cooking utensils on a cutting board.
Q. Can I install marble for my kitchen benchtop?
A. Absolutely! Natural marble will undoubtedly be a standout feature in your kitchen. Remember to wipe up spillages as soon as they happen to prevent stains.
Q. Do you offer consultations?
A. Yes! We provide free in-home consultations to determine how much stone you’ll require for your benchtop or splashback. We’ll be more than happy to give our expert advice to help move your project along smoothly.
